LONG GONE FRIEND

The glasses and the wine
Familiar breath of fresh mint
You cherished more around
While Dreams sinking fast
In the sea of liquor
If then We played and feared
but determined not to cave
And in the end write a story
Of the journey in aspirations
With well painted new identities
That tears and blood couldn’t stain
Now the truth stings with memories
With every inch of pain

In the loud disco the heart sleeps
Dead to the message of a long wander
From the road that now keeps
A lone bird off the tree’s bark
Where the fruit is wise
And the shade pure
Blood no longer flow through branches
Grown from within our hearts
Like today seem more ages
Since the boat from shore depart

I wish the nicotine clouds
Can rain down some clue
Of the shadow of a close friend
I once thought I knew
